Flickr Original updates
Saturday 08/7/2010 – Category: Uncategorized
I've updated Flickr Original (both Firefox and Safari) to be compatible with Flickr's new photo page.
For Firefox users, you will have to go though an extra step to re-enable the context menu when right clicking on a photo on the because the new Flickr photo page has disabled the right-click context menu, you will need to adjust a setting in your Firefox preferences to restore it:
1. In Preferences, select the "Content" panel.
2. Click the "Advanced..." button next to the "Enable Javascript" box.
3. Deselect the "Disable or replace context menus" checkbox
(via http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Javascript)
For Safari users, you will have to right-click twice to bring up the context menu.
Download Flickr Original 1.1 for Safari 5
Download Flickr Original 1.0.6 for Firefox

Hiya:
Great application!
I apologize for my ignorance here… But I guess flickr has a few different ways of presenting the pics in photo albums. It seems that this app can’t always get the Original. Any idea what’s going on?

Does not seem to work
Here is the error message:
“Sorry, Flickr Original could not view/download this photo.”
I have checked to see that the user allows downloading of the original image.

@leesa – the extension uses the Flickr API, which respects a user’s privacy preferences. The user might have disabled downloads of the original size.
@allen – do you have a sample photo url that shows this error?

Works, but spawns new tab every time I click menu item to download original image. So not so convenient. Good start though. Thanks.

@Aaron: I’ll take a look. The new tab was only meant for viewing, not downloading.

Thanks a lot. Worked perfectly well. But every time I save a picture, a new tab opens…that was a little annoying. Overall it is quite good though.

Works fine. The only annoyance is that every time you want to save a picture it opens a new blank tab and leaves it open.

Also, I notice that the Firefox version shows the same keyboard shortcut for “View Original Flickr Image” and “Download Original Flickr Image”. Was that intentional or is that an error?

Hi
I downloaded this but doesn’t seem to work. When I right click on Download image it displays: “Sorry, Flickr Original could not view/download this image.” I have already changed my “Access To Original Image” setting to anyone. Any ideas what I could do?

Hi, do you have an example image where this issue is happening?
December 6th, 2010 at 9:34 pm
I’ll update the next version to not open a new tab for saved images.

Probably an error, I will investigate for the next update.

hi, i absolutely love this extension, could you please consider also making it for chrome?

Be great to have an option where the Original image doesn’t open in a new tab – but the current one.
Maybe a settings panel option.
